- The term Artificial Intelligence ( AI ) was coined in 1956 by John McCarthy from the Massachussets Institute of Technology ( MIT)
- Manfred Clynes and co-author Nathan Kline first coined the word "cyborg" in 1960. The term was used to describe a human being augmented with technological implants.
- Jarkko Oikarinen invented Internet Relay Chat ( IRC ) in 1988.
- Vinton Cerf is the father of the net since he invented the term "Internet".

In 2006, the World Wide Web became a tool for bringing together the small contributions of millions of people and making them matter.
That's why TIME magazine selected everyone of us as Person of the Year 2006.
This new web, experts call Web 2.0, is allowing ordinary people to make themselves heard on a global scale, thus fostering a new digital democracy.
